Meet the Team

Meet Dayna Lei, BA (intern)

Specialties:

What is Dayna's background?

I am a second-year social work student attending the Brown School with a focus on clinical social work and mental health. I focused on psychology in my undergraduate studies, and in between undergrad and graduate school, I dedicated my time as a volunteer with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) to help support those within the mental health community. I had the privilege of facilitating peer support groups for those that live with mental health conditions for two years, and I currently travel to various schools in the St. Louis area to provide education on mental health and stigma for youth.

What is Dayna's specialty/area of interest?

I hope to specialize in mood disorders that are present in adolescents and young adults that could affect quality of life or their ability to achieve their goals.

Why did Dayna choose social work?

I believe that everyone is affected by both their internal and external environment. When working with clients, I wish to use a social work perspective to help them address any presenting problems in a holistic manner that promotes long-term, sustainable change.

What does Dayna like to do in her free time?

In my free time, I enjoy volunteering and spending time with my husband and two cats. I also enjoy creative writing, playing video games, and journaling.

Dayna's wellness approach is rooted in trauma-informed care and an understanding that everyone is uniquely impacted by their individual life experiences.
