How I Can HelpSupport for Anxiety, Trauma, and Relationship Challenges
You may find yourself constantly worrying about what could go wrong, struggling to feel safe after difficult experiences, or trying to keep everything together while feeling overwhelmed underneath it all.
My name is Taylor Smith, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri. My story is rooted in resiliency and understanding, and those values guide the way I approach my work with clients.
My goal is to provide a space where you can feel listened to, supported, and understood while we work together to uncover the strengths already within you.
Challenges and hardships can affect us in ways we do not always expect.
Sometimes anxiety makes it difficult to quiet your mind or feel confident about what comes next. Trauma can affect your sense of safety, relationships, and ability to trust yourself. Family conflict can leave you feeling unheard, frustrated, or emotionally exhausted.
Whatever brings you into therapy, we can begin by understanding what you are experiencing and identifying what may help you feel more grounded and equipped to move forward.
In our work together, we may focus on helping you:
- Better understand and manage anxiety
- Reduce persistent worry, fear, and uncertainty
- Process trauma and difficult life experiences
- Develop healthier coping strategies for stress
- Strengthen emotional regulation skills
- Navigate family conflict and challenging relationships
- Identify patterns that may be contributing to distress
- Challenge unhelpful or self-defeating thoughts
- Build greater confidence in your ability to handle difficult situations
- Recognize and strengthen the resilience you already possess
You do not need to know exactly what you need before starting therapy. Part of our work can be discovering that together.
Emotional Regulation
Build practical skills for understanding emotions, managing intense reactions, and responding to difficult situations with greater confidence.
Relationship Concerns
Navigate family conflict and challenging relationships while strengthening communication, boundaries, and your sense of being heard.
Trauma
Process difficult experiences at a pace that respects your comfort, readiness, and need for safety.
What Therapy With Me Is LikeWarm, Supportive, and Understanding
My approach is warm, supportive, and understanding.
I believe one of the most important parts of therapy is having a space where you genuinely feel heard. You should be able to talk about what you are experiencing without feeling judged, rushed, or pressured to have everything figured out.
I want our sessions to feel collaborative and supportive while also helping you develop practical tools you can use outside of therapy.
Together, we will explore what is contributing to the challenges you are experiencing, identify the strengths and resources already available to you, and develop strategies that help you respond to difficult situations in healthier and more effective ways.
I see therapy as a place where you can both process what you have been through and build the skills you need for what comes next.
“I believe with the right tools and support, people can grow and thrive after experiencing challenges and hardships in life.

My Approach to CounselingPractical, Trauma-Informed Care for Healing and Growth
My clinical work is primarily grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
These approaches allow us to combine practical skill-building with a deeper understanding of how difficult experiences may continue influencing thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, focuses on the connection between the way we think, feel, and behave.
Sometimes our thoughts become shaped by fear, stress, past experiences, or uncertainty. Together, we may identify patterns of thinking that increase anxiety or distress and explore more balanced ways of understanding and responding to situations.
CBT can also provide practical strategies for coping with stress, managing emotions, and approaching challenges differently.
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Traumatic or deeply difficult experiences can change the way we understand ourselves, other people, and the world around us.
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy offers a structured and supportive way to process those experiences while developing tools for managing difficult emotions, thoughts, and reactions.
Our work will always be paced with your comfort, readiness, and needs in mind.
Supportive, Strengths-Based Skill Building
Together, we will identify the strengths and resources already available to you and build practical coping, emotional regulation, and confidence-building skills that support your everyday life.
A Little More About MeThe Person Within the Therapist
Supporting Growth After Hardship
I entered the counseling profession because I believe people have the ability to grow and thrive even after experiencing significant challenges and hardships.
Sometimes people simply need the right combination of support, understanding, and practical tools to begin recognizing that possibility for themselves.
My background includes working with clients experiencing stress, anxiety, trauma and abuse, and family conflict. Through that work, I have seen how powerful it can be when someone has a safe space to process what they have been through while also learning new ways to cope, respond, and move forward.
Being able to support people during that process is what continues to make this work meaningful to me.
Curiosity, Creativity, and Quiet Moments
Outside of counseling, I enjoy reading and making puzzles.
I also like trying new hobbies, which means I am often exploring something different simply for the experience of learning, creating, or discovering a new interest.
Those quieter, creative activities give me opportunities to slow down, recharge, and stay curious outside of my professional life.
