You don’t have to
carry everything on
your own.
You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, exhausted, or simply aware that something in your life needs to change.
Counseling can give you space to slow down, make sense of what you are experiencing, and begin finding ways forward that feel more manageable, more grounded, and more like you.
At GDC, therapy is collaborative, individualized, and centered around your lived experience.

Sometimes you know something needs to change before you know exactly what you need.
Maybe your mind rarely slows down.
You may replay conversations, anticipate what could go wrong, question yourself, or feel responsible for holding everything together.
Maybe something difficult happened, and you still notice its impact on your emotions, relationships, sleep, confidence, or sense of safety.
Or maybe you cannot name one specific thing. You simply do not feel like yourself.

Care that fits your unique path.
You are the expert on your own life.
Your history, relationships, culture, identity, responsibilities, strengths, and goals all shape what support should look like for you.
Our therapists bring clinical expertise, perspective, curiosity, and practical tools, while you remain an active participant in deciding what matters and where the work goes.
No two people experience counseling the same way, even when they are navigating similar concerns.
Cost should not be the reason you go without support.
GDC created the Access Initiative in 2020, during a time when job loss and financial uncertainty made counseling harder to access for many people. The program continues that commitment today by offering reduced-fee and pro bono counseling options for individuals who are unemployed, uninsured, underinsured, or otherwise experiencing financial barriers to care.
Through the Access Initiative, clients will work with a master’s-level clinical trainee under the guidance of GDC’s licensed clinical team. Some clients may also participate in our co-counseling training model, where a licensed clinician and clinical trainee facilitate sessions together, allowing for real-time clinical support, modeling, and continuity throughout treatment.
Access to care should not depend solely on what someone can afford.

Questions are always welcome

How do I know if counseling is right for me?
You do not need to be in crisis or know exactly what you want to work on before beginning therapy. Counseling may be helpful if something is affecting the way you feel, function, connect with others, or experience daily life, or if you simply want support understanding yourself and moving toward meaningful change.
What if I don’t know what I want to work on?
That is okay. Many people begin with a feeling rather than a specific goal. Your therapist can help you explore what has been happening, identify patterns or concerns, and decide together what may be most useful to focus on.
How do I choose a therapist?
Start with what matters most to you. You may consider the therapist’s specialties, experience, identity, personality, clinical approach, insurance participation, or the way their profile makes you feel. There is no single “right” way to choose.
Is counseling virtual?
Yes. GDC counseling services are provided virtually, giving clients greater flexibility and allowing therapy to take place from a private environment that works for them.
What insurance do you accept?
Insurance participation varies by therapist. Current insurance information is included on each therapist’s individual profile. Self-pay options are also available.
How quickly can I get started?
Availability varies by therapist and client needs, but in many cases, clients can be seen in 1 week. Completing the intake and appointment request is the best way to begin.
Do you accept HSA cards?
Conveniently, individuals who have Health Savings Accounts (HSA) can pay for counseling services through this pre-taxed account. You may upload it to your profile when completing your Intake Packet once your appointment is confirmed.
What’s the cancellation policy?
You are expected to provide a 24 hr notice of cancellation directly to your provider. We understand life happens so everyone gets a pass on the first occurrence. However, a second late cancellation within 24 hrs will result in being charged for the missed appointment.

You can begin before you have all the answers.
You may know exactly what you want support with, or you may simply know that something needs to feel different.
Either place is enough to begin.
